Could you be neurodivergent?

Difficulties with focus, organisation, emotional regulation or social communication can affect anyone, but for some people, these challenges are ongoing and impact daily life. If you’ve ever wondered whether ADHD or Autism might explain your experiences, or your child’s, you’re not alone. Many adults and children live for years without realising their struggles may be linked to a neurodevelopmental condition.
You may recognise:

  • Difficulty managing your time, concentrating or finishing tasks;
  • Feeling overwhelmed by noise, change or sensory input;
  • Being easily distracted or “always on the go”;
  • Losing track of conversations or missing social cues making you feel confused or exhausted;
  • Struggles with routines, motivation or organisation;
  • Feeling socially exhausted or misunderstood;
  • Intense interests or a strong need for predictability; or
  • Emotional overwhelm or difficulty managing feelings

These are all common patterns experienced by neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This can lead to feelings of frustration, low confidence or anxiety when life feels harder than it should be. Many people also become skilled at “masking”, appearing to cope externally while feeling overwhelmed internally.

A professional assessment can provide the clarity and understanding needed to make sense of these lifelong experiences.

    Why consider a neurodiversity assessment?

    Understanding your neurotype can be transformative. Many people describe the assessment process as a moment of recognition, clarity and self-validation.
    You may gain:

    • A clearer understanding of yourself or your child
    • Improved confidence by replacing confusion with insight
    • Personalised strategies for managing attention, sensory needs or emotional regulation
    • Access to workplace or educational adjustments
    • A deeper understanding of communication and relationships
    • A formal clinical report recognised by employers, schools, universities and Access to Work
    • A plan for next steps, including therapy, support services or psychiatric referral if needed

    An assessment can help you move forward with greater self-awareness and support.

    What does our assessment process involve?

    We offer comprehensive ADHD and Autism assessments for children and adults, grounded in clinical psychology and informed by culturally responsive best practice.

    Our assessments include:

    1. A detailed developmental & clinical interview – We explore early childhood, education, relationships, strengths and areas of difficulty. For children, we take a thorough parental history.
    2. Standardised assessment tools – We use validated measures to evaluate attention, executive functioning, behaviour, sensory processing and social communication.
    3. Collateral information – Where appropriate, and with your consent, we gather information from someone who knows you or your child well.
    4. A comprehensive clinical report – This includes diagnostic conclusions (where applicable), a psychological formulation, and personalised recommendations for home, school or work.
    5. A dedicated feedback session – We discuss the findings in full, ensuring you understand your neurotype and the implications for daily life and long-term support.

    Do we assess for both ADHD and Autism?

    Yes. Many people experience overlapping traits, so we offer:

    • ADHD assessments
    • Autism assessments
    • Combined ADHD & Autism assessments

    This is especially important for women, girls and individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds who are often under-recognised or misdiagnosed.

    Who might benefit from an assessment?

    People often come to us because they:

    • Feel constantly overwhelmed or burnt out
    • Experience difficulties with focus, organisation or time management
    • Feel different from peers but are unsure why
    • Mask in social or work environments
    • Have sensory sensitivities
    • Struggle with emotional regulation
    • Have intense interests or a fast-moving mind
    • Experience relationship or communication difficulties
    • Have previously been told they “don’t seem autistic”
    • Are successful on the outside but exhausted by the effort it takes

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    How long does the assessment take? Assessment length varies, but most take place over 1–2 sessions lasting 60–120 minutes each, with a separate feedback session once the report is complete.

    Do you prescribe medication? As a psychology-led service, we do not prescribe medication. However, we can make recommendations and provide reports that support onward referral to a psychiatrist for medication where appropriate.

    Are assessments online or face-to-face? We offer both in-person and online assessments, depending on your preference.

    Will my diagnosis be accepted by my workplace, school or GP? Yes. Our clinical diagnostic reports are suitable for workplace adjustments, Access to Work applications, and educational support.

    What if the assessment does not indicate ADHD or Autism? You will still receive a detailed clinical formulation, report and recommendations. Many people find this extremely helpful for understanding their strengths and challenges.

    Do you assess both children and adults? Yes — we offer assessments across the lifespan.
