As a Person-Centred Counsellor working within the BACP’s Ethical Framework, I am here to help you talk about your feelings with compassion, empathy and understanding to help you to find a way to move forward. I can support you through therapy and aid you in overcoming a wide range of problems that may be negatively affecting your mental health. Clients may come to me suffering from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or self-worth, problems at work or the loss of a loved one. Whatever your emotions or potential stumbling blocks, together we can help you to look to the future.

EXPERIENCE

As a therapeutic counsellor, I am passionate about helping and working with people and this is reflected in my experience and my previous career.

My counselling placement was for 2 years with a hospice in Leeds, which have given me a wealth of experience in supporting bereaved families and giving them the opportunity to talk through their emotions, thoughts and feelings. This experience in a palliative setting was aided by many years working within funeral care and for a charity supporting individuals coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis and those that had recently been bereaved.

Over recent years and in preparation for becoming a counsellor, I volunteered for a well-known mental health charity as a listening volunteer, which I did for 6 years, whilst also becoming a mentor and trainer for other volunteers.

Prior to completing my counselling qualifications, I spent some time in a support role working for an NHS trust in a mental health setting. Here I directly aided those that were affected by their mental health by using my enhanced listening skills, whilst supporting the clinical team caring for them.

QUALIFICATIONS

I have an ABC Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling that I studied at Leeds City College, which was awarded by SEG. Fully trained as a listener and trainer for a well-known mental health charity, I have also completed safeguarding training in a number of roles.

Over the years I have ensured I take on Continuous Professional Development (CPD), not just in my role as a counsellor but in previous roles working in bereavement and within the NHS, all of which provides a solid grounding for working as a counsellor.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and currently working towards accreditation. I have an Enhanced DBS check and am a registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

HOW DO I PROCEED?

Following an enquiry, we can arrange an initial chat on the phone free-of-charge, to see if you feel we can work together. Following this we will arrange an initial in-person session lasting 50 minutes, which will include forming a client-therapist contract that clarifies the basis of our relationship. We would then look at you attending 6 sessions initially which we will then review to see if we feel any more sessions are required.

RATES

One-to-one sessions last 50 minutes and are charged at £45.

Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer, either before or at the start of each session.
