EXPERIENCE

Before becoming a counsellor myself, I undertook my own long term therapy which I believe is critical to doing my job well. Developing my own in-depth self-knowledge on top of my academic qualifications, experience and clinical supervision training, ensures I am able to help you.

I initially began working as a psychotherapist in the voluntary sector and as a Staff Counsellor for the NHS at Airedale Hospital back in 1999. I then moved into a role at Lynfield Mount hospital in Bradford, helping people with more severe mental health issues such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). My job was to help them live their lives, rather than just existing and being overwhelmed by their symptoms.

In 2006 I moved into private practice, working from rooms in Shipley, North Bradford and more recently offering online psychotherapy. I have also continued to be a NHS Staff Counsellor since 2013 where I provide upto six counselling sessions to NHS employees.

In 2014-2015, I trained in the clinical supervision of other psychotherapists and earned a Diploma in Supervision; undertaking regular supervision sessions is a requirement for all professional therapists that are actively practicing. For more information about my approach to supervision for other counsellors, please visit my Counselling Supervision page.
