I have a background in the Arts and I hold a BA hons and PGCE. The foundation of my practice as a counsellor is to form a supportive and enabling relationship to explore difficulties to allow for change and growth.
As a result of my varied experience, I am able to draw upon a range of different counselling techniques to support my clients. The collaborative relationship between the therapist and the client supports the process of personal growth, enabling individuals to move forward with their lives to reach greater understanding of themselves and others.
I believe a good relationship between client and counsellor is vital for effective therapy. I offer an initial meeting with no commitments to allow clients to decide whether they would be happy for us to work together, meeting in a setting which offers space and calm to reflect.
In a supportive environment using a person centred approach I can help you to look at things differently and to identify what needs to change. It can enable you to make informed choices and regain the balance needed in your life.
I also use creative arts as a therapeutic / receptive tool to support the process and help you to express feelings and emotions by the use of creative forms. It could be the use of a poem, song, expressive writing or a visual art creation, such as a painting or sketch made during the session.
Using creative arts as a tool can be supportive in exploring your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I work with collaboration and compassion and at a pace you are comfortable with.
